GAWD. I could not put this book down. Rebecca Zanetti has created a
captivating post-apocalyptic world filled with riveting characters
that I can't get enough of. I was transfixed by her powerful story
where she blended the danger and adventure of a world run by
mercenaries and by people trying to recreate society and keep
humanity in a desolate landscape.
Lynn
Harmony was a fascinating heroine. She would do anything to find a
cure for Scorpius, including binding herself to a dangerous man. Jax
Mercury was a ruthless leader. He strived to maintain his distance
from everyone, yet it was quickly apparent that he cared about those
under his protection.
Lynn and
Jax were emotionally complex characters, neither of them were
prepared to be attached to another person, both had felt too much
pain in their lives. Yet there was no denying the sizzling hot desire
they felt for each other. Their fiery passion scorched the pages as
they struggled to not fall in love with each other as they fulfilled
each others needs.
I found
all of the characters of Mercury Striking to be well fleshed
out and complex. The layers of emotion were not only conveyed to Lynn
and Jax. I found myself caring for the other members of Jax's group
and despising their rivals. The protagonists in this book are so well
written, that I can't wait to see how they will all evolve throughout
the series as they try to rebuild civilization and overcome their
obstacles.
I
thought that the villains were superbly crafted and thoroughly evil.
I liked that they weren't predictable and kept a few surprises up
their sleeves.
Mercury
Striking is one of those books that I didn't want to end! I am
highly anticipating the next book in this series.
