My thoughts:
I adore anything Viking, it's been one of my favorite genres ever since I discovered historical romance sooo many years ago. Johanna Lindsey, Sandra Hill and Heather Graham first introduced me to the long ship riding warriors. Now I enjoy watching the History Channel's Vikings, but finding current romances set in this time period is few and far between, imagine how thrilled I was to stumble onto Sandra Lake.
I enjoyed Ms. Lake's storytelling, I thought she brought the scenes to life. I also thought that there was excellent chemistry between Lothair and Katia. Also, I was intrigued by Katia's parents, Lida & Magnus, that I will be getting their book.
My only gripe with the story was that Katia was so immature and her actions really diminished the kick-butt characteristics that initially drew me to her. She went from being a strong character to a weak "I need a man to take care of me" type of heroine and some of her actions weren't only immature, but demoted her down to a TSTL a/k/a to stupid to live character. Even with that said though, I still enjoyed the story, I was just disappointed in her.

Sandra Lake was born somewhere in
the wilds of Sweden. Surrounded by shirtless, blond men, she learned
to sail, swing a sword and skin a bear when she was only three--wait
no, that was Davy Crockett...
The real Sandra was raised in
rural Canada. (Close enough to Sweden) She married her childhood
sweetheart (who is blond and on occasion shirtless). They are
currently living happily-ever-after along with their kids and unruly
husky in eastern Canada.
Her debut historical romance, THE
WARLORD’S WIFE was published by Berkley Romance in March of
2015. THE IRON PRINCESS, Book 2 in the 'Sons of the North
Series' was release July 2015. THE ENEMY’S
DAUGHTER, Book 3 is set for release later this
year.
