Hot & Heavy is peppered with Sandra Hill's signature humor. She has the knack of making the corniest phrases funny and she keeps the story hot. I loved how she had Maddie interpreting her experiences and the everyday objects, that were so new to her. 
 

New cover...not as sexy.

I really enjoyed Ian and Maddie's story, as they both had so much to learn from each other. They each had to face culture shocks, obvious for Maddie, who had just jumped across the lines of time, and Ian had to acclimate himself to living with her. I enjoyed their sexual tension and the way they steamed the pages up when they finally caved to their wants. 
 
It was great when Maddie found out that her family had also time-traveled, and she was able to reunite with them. And I loved revisiting with old friends. As always, I'm looking forward to what ever Sandra Hill has coming next...which I hear is going to be a mix of Viking Vampire Angels—in the modern times. Hmmm, it's definitely and original combination, I can't wait to see what she does with it.

Stephanie Rowe takes us back to her slap-stick SoulFire world with her latest addition to the series, HOLD ME IF YOU CAN. I really enjoyed the humorous roller-coaster of a story she penned. There was enough action and adventure thrown in with the silly to keep the story moving. Not to mention the delicious sexual tension between Nigel and Natalie. I loved that while they really wanted to indulge, they held back. I know that most of it was because of Natalie's fears of losing control, but I think it helped to keep the story moving, to show that not everything can be answered by a romp in the sack...though it sure didn't hurt anything.

I look forward to visiting the SoulFire series again in the future, just to see how these guys are going t o continue to heal...and to see what else the Den of Womanly pursuits may hold.

I 'm thrilled that Julia Quinn has finally decided to tell a story from the Smythe-Smith side of the dreaded Smythe-Smith musicals. Having been introduced to them with her Bridgerton series, I've been reading about this form of “entertainment” with great enjoyment for a while now. It's good to learn that the audience isn't the only ones suffering, though I loved the reasoning behind the continuation of the event. Of course this years event was extra-special.

 

JUST LIKE HEAVEN is a sweet friends to lovers romance bringing together a couple that has known and tormented each other since childhood, this is a trope that I am very fond of. Marcus and Honoria already have an established relationship, but now it's time to shake things up, as they slowly realize that their feelings go deeper than they ever expected. Of course they don't just discover this over night, they slowly realize their feelings, and neither is sure if their love is reciprocated. It was a delightfully fun journey to their HEA (happily ever after).

 

I enjoyed how Honoria's attempts to attract a suitor, drew her and Marcus closer together...even though it brought bodily harm to Marcus.  Which of course led to Honoria needing to take care of him, opening up more opportunities for them to discover their feelings. While Ms. Quinn kept up her trademark humor that makes her books such a fun escape, she also put enough of a dramatic twist on events that kept the book from being fluffy

 

I look forward to the next addition to the Smythe-Smith series, as I do all of Julia Quinn's books.
